Spontaneous Magic – that’s what I hope you will see in my photography.
Through my photography I try to convey my unique perception of the world.
My observation is that most people are too busy with their daily lives to
notice the small, magical moments that occur everywhere every day.
Ice storms, snowstorms in the middle of the night, a bird perched on a tombstone,
fog-shrouded construction workers.
These are all events that render the mundane -- magical.
Being in that place, at that time – and recognizing it is the trick.
I strive to ‘freeze’ these moments in time and capture that unique event when,
for this single point in time, the small part of the universe where I am standing
is displayed in a manner that may never come again.

Time-Exposure photography – in the middle of the night --
remains my favorite method of expression.
It’s that time when the absence of daylight – and the presence of artificial illumination
brings a new perspective to everyday shapes.
The two biggest thrills for me are when I’ve taken that ‘right’ photograph – and I know it.
And when someone sees the final result and ‘gets’ it.
I hope my work moves you to look at your surroundings with new eyes.

Photography Classes

If you've ever wanted to learn to take better pictures, I will be teaching two photography classes in Cedar Hill in Visual Expressions Gallery's brand new classroom building (along with some other highly talented local artisans.) Classes are every Wednesday for 6 weeks with the first session starting on February 20th, 2008.

Here's the Class Schedule. The gallery will have classes not only in Photography, but Drawing, Watercolor, Oil, Acrylics, Mixed Media, Glass, Theater, Jewelry, Bookbinding, Art Appreciation and Writing.

Some may find it a bit of a schlep from Frisco, but it's really a fairly quick trip down I35E from almost anywhere else to Cedar Hill. If I can do it, so can you. C'mon down and let's make some great photos together.
